This young man is the full-time varsity starting Punter at always strong Brandeis H.S., competing in highly regarded District 29-6A play in the Greater San Antonio Area. As a sophomore after moving to San Antonio, Matthew played with the JV unit per UIL regulations and was dominant as their Kickoff man, Extra Point man, and Punter. Kohl's Kicking Comments on Matthew (2021):

"Gibbons attended the 2021 Kohl's National Scholarship Camp where he put together a an outstanding camp. He averaged an incredible 4.19 seconds of hang time during the charting, adding in a big ball of 47 yards with a 4.97 second hang time. Gibbons "A" ball is among the best in the class and will be a difference maker for any college program. Gibbons competed at the Kohl’s National Scholarship Camp in July of 2020 and a Winter Showcase in 2021. He hit some very impressive punts at camp and also demonstrated that he can perform the roll out punt under pressure. Gibbons is a combo specialist who has hit punts that go 45+ yards with 4.79 seconds of hang time. It showed us that has the leg talent to compete at the next level. Gibbons development over the next year will be important for his football career in college!"

Chris Sailer Kicking Comments on Matthew (2021):
"Matthew recently won the Houston Punt Camp and was dominant all day. He won both competitions at the camp. Matthew is an extremely coachable and talented punter who has become one of the best in this talented 2022 class. Matthew is now a true two-step punter who can hit 5.0+ seconds of hangtime. In Houston, Matthew definitely showed his ability to get downfield with the ball. During the training phase of camp, Matthew hit punts of 54 4.16, 51 4.6 and 47 4.53. He also hit a directional right punt 49 4.32. Matthew avergaed 46.2 during charting over six punts with his best being 52 4.33. Matthew was also solid with all drop punts and plus-field punts. Matthew is a FBS level talent who really deserves this ranking due to his hard work and dominant performance."

While Matthew has already proven himself athletically on the football fields at tradition-rich Brandeis H.S. so far in his career to-date, he is also focused on keeping his grades up to reach his collegiate goals. As a senior, Matthew is carrying a perfect 4.0 GPA and will be taking his SAT/ACT exams in the near future. For more information on Matthew, contact his BHS Coaching Staff directly.
