Coach Quotes
"I have been fortunate to coach Keaton on the Platte County High School football team for four years. In all of my dealings with Keaton he has shown to be a young man of high character, intelligence, and a great teammate.
Keaton is a hard working student athlete that was a lot of fun to coach. He never takes a day off.  He leads by example.  Keaton is relentless as a player. He has worked hard on improving his individual technique on the defensive line. Keaton plays with a great pad level and uses his hands extremely well.  He has good agility and his footwork is still improving. As a sophomore he was able to earn a starting position on the defensive line. As a junior he was a starter on a defensive line that made it to the state championship. He earned first team all conference and all state honors as a senior also helping lead his team to the state championship. Keaton has been one of my favorite players to coach in my 25 years in coaching."
- Eric Mitchell, PCHS Assistant FB Coach

"To whom it may concern,

I have had the privilege of coaching and getting to know Keaton Smith over the last four years, and you couldn’t ask for a better person to coach. He is one of the most consistent players I have coached. We knew what we were going to get from Keaton at every single practice and game. Keaton is coachable and he comes in every day with the mentality that he is going to get better, and he has been willing to put in the work to get better since day 1. He has been an anchor on our defense, and an excellent leader for our program.

Keaton has put in the work over the last four years to become fundamentally and technically sound. He consistently plays with a great pad level, and he is naturally able to gain leverage when taking on offensive lineman. He excels at taking on double teams, and he is able to anchor in and not give up any ground. His hand placement is always on point, and he does a good job with using his hands to defeat blocks. One thing that really sticks out about Keaton is his love for the game, and his willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team win. As an interior lineman he was tasked with handling a lot of the dirty work, and he embraced that. A lot of what he did for the defense does not show up on the stat sheet, but his ability to hold down the interior had a big hand in our success as a defense.

Keaton Smith would be an excellent addition to a program. You will be getting a good player and an even better person. I know he will be committed in the classroom and on the field, and he will make the necessary sacrifices to succeed at the next level.
