This 2020 grad plays football at Madison H.S., competing in District 26-6A in the San Antonio area. While a junior, Darien was a RB/Slot Receiver on the loaded varsity unit that made a run in our 6A State Playoffs, and earned an invitation to both the coveted 2019 National Combine here at the Alamodome and the 2019 Nike Opening Regionals! As a sophomore, Darien was a full-time varsity player on their squad. As a freshman on his 10W-0L Freshman "A" Team, Darien was the starting fullback, linebacker and was on the kick/punt return teams. Once the playoffs started, Darien was brought up to the varsity, where he promptly saw playing time at fullback and on special teams. Standing 5'8"-165lbs as a senior, Darien combines his ballhawk mentality with his physical style of play and downhill style of running to have a bright varsity future ahead of himself at MHS and beyond. As a senior this past season, Darien carried the ball 192 times for 1,232 yards (6.41 yard average), caught the ball 11 times for 107 yards (10 yard average), and finished the year with 1,339 all-purpose yards and 11 TD's. While he was a junior, Darien carried the ball 74 times for 589 yards and 7 TD's, averaging 7.96 yards per carry. At WR, he caught 25 passes for 446 yards and 3 TD's, averaging 17.84 yards per catch. This brings his end of season all-purpose yards total to 1,057! Possessing leadership qualities uncommon for a young man his age, Darien leads his team in prayer before every game and is a humble, hard working athlete.
