And of course, like all of us here at College Promoters, he is also a big sports enthusiast and a "former" athlete in his younger high school and college days. He specialized on the tennis and basketball courts and received some interest to compete in tennis at the college level. He chose to attend TAMU-CC instead to pursue his education. But his history and love for all sports and athletics within the high school recruiting process is what attracted Jimmy to College Promoters USA. We're already seeing some great things happen in the Centex region as a result of his professionalism and we're very happy to have him on board as the Area Director for our Austin & Central Texas operation.

jimmy1If you're a parent or high school student-athlete in the Central Texas region, please contact Jimmy right away to talk about the potential of your athlete at the next level. Mr. Andrews and our staff in the Centex area would love to talk personally with you about College Promoters and the potential help our company can be in seeing that your son/daughter truly achieves their dream of playing college athletics through the strongest, most personal and hands-on recruiting

system in the state of Texas.

walkerstrongJohnny "Sky Walker" Walker
Recruiting Coordinator
CPUSA - Central Texas

Johnny "Sky Walker" Walker, seen in the pic to the left with new UT Head Coach Charlie Strong, graduated from Killeen High School in May 1980. He was a Track All-American in '79-'80. An absolutely amazing athlete. He was a 7ft high jumper, Ran a 10.1 100m and were the 4x400 relay State Champs. Johnny ran the anchor leg on that relay team with an astounding 40.04. And not to forget, he was also an All-District Running Back and a "Blue Chip" Top Recruit. He ultimately signed a full football scholarship with the University of Texas on National Signing Day in his senior year in Feb. 1980.

During his college career, "Sky Walker" was the starting running back at UT for all 4 years of his eligibility from 1980-83. Johnny rushed for an impressive 886 yards in his Freshman Year.  In 1981, his Sophomore season, Johnny was named a Pre-Season Heisman Trophy Candidate. Walker helped lead the University of Texas Southwest Conference Champs 3 years straight in 1981, 82 and 83.

The Longhorns were 1981 Cotton Bowl Champions, defeating Alabama 21-14. (Check out the pic to the right of Johnny leaping over the line for a touchdown in that '81 Cotton Bowl) He was also a huge part of the Horns 12-0 undefeated season in 1983. There's been some extremely impressive running back talent since Johnny graduated in 1983-84 but "Sky Walker" still sits as the 16th All-Time Rushing Leader in Texas Longhorn football history. Johnny went on to graduate and receive his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology/ Education. Mr. Walker was one of 12 Longhorns drafted in the 1984 NFL Draft. He was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals where he went on to play in the NFL from 1984-1987.

Johnny is clearly a perfect fit for the College Promoters USA recruiting team. We are very excited to have him on board and look forward to his experience and expertise alongside our system of nearly 20 years. Mr. Walker is a great addition and is another prime example of the professional support our Austin Area College Promoters unit is putting together to bring to the Centex region!
